The regular "Popular news" that comes with Joomla system shows you the most read articles of all time.
If a new article is "booming" and getting a lot of reads it will never be on this list because the first articles ever written we probably have more hits.

This module solves this problem. It will show you the most popular articles in your site for a preiod of time. If you select 60 days the list will be of articles with most hits in the last 60 days.
